We are the second generation of a small family business that has been
making jewelry and ornaments in Corvallis since 1972. Chaum grew up
with the business and has learned the skills integral to the craft. After
earning a BA in History from the University of Oregon in 1997he has been
a full time jeweler.

Combinations of bronze, copper, nickel silver and sterling silver are used
in our jewelry and ornaments. The metal is hand cut to create various
shapes, sizes, and lengths and are brazed together using  an
oxyacetylene torch.  Tool like pliers, hammers, mandrels and a drill are
used to refine the individual pieces.
We strive to continuously come up
with new designs and to expand our abilities.

April works with designing and finishing the jewelry and ornaments.
In 1999, she began making soap as gifts for family and friends and
became hooked on the process. Ideas for different combinations of
essential oils and natural colorants led to the making of many batches of
soap. The quantity of soap around the house exceeded the family's need
leading to the start of a small business. April Showers Soaps was off and
running!

We take pride in the fact that we are the producers of our goods from
design to creation. We enjoy collaborating with one another in the many
phases of our work as well as being able to operate our business from our
home. We sell our work at galleries and art festivals throughout the
northwest.
