My interest in jewelry began in my youth in Salina, Kansas with a grandfather who was a geologist. I progressed from using a rock
tumbler in grade school to silver smithing in high school. With a degree in art from the Colorado College in 1979, my interest in metal-smithing continued as an avocation.
In 1986, having spent six years in retail management, I decided I wanted to be my own boss. In February of 1987, Designs by Dru, became a reality.
Inspired by nature, I am drawn to simple organic shapes and forms to use in my designs. Most of my work is done using construction techniques, but I also utilize lost wax and sand casting.
