About Us

What began as a small group of local artists looking for somewhere to sell indoors during the cold and rainy winter, has turned into TEAL, a cooperative gallery.

We are accepting new members. If you interested in joining TEAL, check out our jury instructions on the “Join TEAL” page. Application deadline is 5 p.m. on April 30.

Every year TEAL artists transform a vacant Corvallis store front into a world of color, light and beauty for the holiday season. For more than three decades TEAL’s fall opening has been greatly anticipated in Corvallis. TEAL is “the place” to shop for unique, high-quality gifts, hand-crafted by Willamette Valley artisans.

A bit of history: Corvallis artists Marti and Gary Spehar were newly married and looking for a way to finance their artistic lifestyle. They were selling jewelry at Oregon festivals from the back of their VW van. Fellow artist Ken Pate, a potter, invited the Spehars to join in opening a gallery. The first year was a success, and a small venture turned into a cooperative gallery that for more than 30 years has opened its doors every November to shoppers whose idea of a great gift is something hand-crafted and pleasing to the eye.

Every holiday season, TEAL showcases the talent and creativity of the Willamette Valley artisan community, including artists who have been part of the group for many years and artists who are brand new to the cooperative.

If you’ve known about us and have shopped in our gallery in the past, you may remember the invitations we send and seeing posters in town.
